Youth Requirements:
– College students & young professionals (18-25)
– Attend weekly check-ins (virtual)
-Attend weekly political education lesson (virtual)
-Complete readings assigned
-Work with South Texas Environmental Justice Network (SOTXEJN) to contribute to existing campaigns (fighting spaceX, protecting sacred land, fighting the expansion of the petrochemical industry). Learn more here: https://sotxejn.org/our-work/
-Commit to 20 hrs a week from June 16 to July 31, which includes the virtual meetings mentioned above, plus in person work with the organization.
Compensation:
– $3,200 for 20 hours a week for 8 weeks, paid weekly
SOTXEJN works closely with the Carrizo Comecrudo Tribe to protect sacred lands, wildlife habitat, and the health and safety of the Rio Grande Valley. Much of our community work includes addressing the environmental issues of LNG, SpaceX, a proposed oil refinery, and protecting our South TX coastline.
