Dont giveaway 700+ acres of wildlife habitat to Elon Musk’s SpaceX!
Right now, the Trump Administration is considering a massive land grab of 712 acres of wildlife habitat in the Rio Grande Valley to allow Elon Musk’s SpaceX to continue building out its explosion industry on our coastline. Email your comment to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service by March 31, urging them to deny SpaceX’s takeover of the refuge land. Those 712 acres of Boca Chica Beach and the Lower Rio Grande Valley are a pristine wildlife corridor for endangered and threatened species, and are also sacred lands that must be preserved for future generations and for Indigenous people. SpaceX must not be allowed to destroy more untouched wildlife habitat; they’ve already burned down more than 60 acres during rocket testing, and their company town, “Starbase,” plans to unfairly take over an additional 7,000 acres of Boca Chica land belonging to mostly private residents by annexation. The area is meant for wildlife, the people, the Indigenous people, the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas, and endangered species, not for Elon Musk to build on or blow up!
Habitat is meant for people and wildlife, not for Elon Musk to blow up dangerous rockets!

SAMPLE COMMENT:
To the U.S. Fish & Wildlife –
We urge you to deny the land exchange of 712 acres for SpaceX because pristine habitat along the Rio Grande must continue to be a protected wildlife corridor for endangered and threatened species, a public beach for healthy outdoor enjoyment, and a sacred place for Indigenous people, such as the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe.
We demand public participation in this exchange process. We urge the US F&W to provide an in-person public hearing in Brownsville, TX, for the community that will be negatively impacted by this SpaceX land proposal. We also request a 90-day public comment period for this proposal to allow other directly impacted residents in the Boca Chica area to be able to comment. At the same time, SpaceX is also attempting to annex land on March 18, at the Starbase commission meeting, which is far too many land-grab proposals for the public to keep informed about at once. SpaceX and US F&W must also consult with the Carrizo/Comecrudo Tribe of Texas regarding this unfair land giveaway, as it will affect their ability to access the region, which they use for spiritual reasons. Additionally, we urge US F&W to provide all materials and any hearings about this proposal in Spanish, because our community is primarily spanish monolingual and must have equal language access.
US F&W must analyze and acknowledge that this unfair land giveaway will prevent future generations from accessing the area and will damage wildlife habitat, including the endangered ocelot, piping plover, and migratory birds, as well as the region’s unique plantlife and ecosystems. US F&W must also provide an analysis of the damage SpaceX operations will cause to the region’s habitat, including tidal flats and saltflats, how it will negatively affect the already fragile flooding issues, as well as provide an in-depth analysis and report of the dangerous vehicular traffic that it will cause for construction.
For these and many more reasons, I urge the US F&W to deny SpaceX’s land proposal.
