MEDIA ADVISORY: Rio Grande Valley Residents to Hold Fuera SpaceX Fest in Brownsville, TX and Boca Chica Beach
Brownsville, TX — This week, Rio Grande Valley residents and organizations will host iFuera SpaceX Fest!, a two-day event, to oppose SpaceX’s “Space Fest Sept 24-26” and protest the destruction SpaceX is causing to the community and the environment.
During the iFuera SpaceX Fest! events, Rio Grande Valley residents and community organizers will voice their opposition to SpaceX and its city Starbase very recently annexing 7,133 acres of land, annexing 444.5 acres of Brownsville City jurisdiction, and taking over 715 acres of federal wildlife habitat to build out its destructive rocket launch operations. They will also voice their opposition to the destruction SpaceX is causing to our community and the environment. Residents will also deliver a letter to the city commissioners urging Brownsville to stop hosting SpaceX’s Space Fest, divest from SpaceX, and address SpaceX’s risks and dangers.
iFuera SpaceX Fest! from Sept. 24 – 26 will include a film screening and panel discussion about SpaceX harming our home on Friday, Sept. 25; a Zumba protest to defend Boca Chica on Saturday at 8:30 AM on Boca Chica Beach; and a rally to protest SpaceX on Saturday at 2 PM in downtown Brownsville.
