Join the South Texas Environmental Justice Network, 956 Radical Library, and Nuestra Delta Magica for a film screening and panel discussion titled “Our Home After SpaceX.” The event will take place at Buho Bookstore (1140 E Washington St., Brownsville, TX) on April 11, 2025, from 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
We will screen a 20-minute film about SpaceX’s presence in Brownsville, created by More Perfect Union, which now includes Spanish captions. Following the film, there will be a one-hour panel discussion focusing on the impacts of SpaceX on housing, the environment, and sacred lands in the Rio Grande Valley. The speakers on the panel will include local investigative journalist Gaige Davila, environmental attorney Marisa Perales, Carrizo Comecrudo Tribal chairman Juan Mancias, Rene Medrano a Brownsville community member featured in the film, and our moderator is 956 Radical Library co-founder Xandra. Spanish interpretation will be provided during the event, along with light refreshments, fact sheets, and more information about ways to take action. The event is free and open to the public.

Están invitad@s a un evento para aprender más sobre los efectos que ha tenido SpaceX en nuestras comunidades. El evento se llevará a cabo en Brownsville, Texas, en la Librería Búho, ubicado en 1140 E Washington Street, el viernes, 11 de abril de 2025. Empezaremos la noche con una proyección de película de 20 minutos producida por More Perfect Union, que ahora incluye subtítulos en español. Después de la película, le seguiremos con una plática donde periodista Gaige Davila, el líder de la tribu Carrizo Comecrudo, Juan Mancias y abogada ambiental Marisa Perales hablarán sobre los impactos de SpaceX, el medio ambiente y las tierras sagradas del Valle del Río Grande.
El evento está alojado por South Texas Environmental Justice Network, la Biblioteca Radical 956 y Nuestra Delta Mágica. El evento empieza a las 6pm y durará hasta las 8pm y se ofrecerá interpretación al español durante el evento. Es gratuito y abierto al público con refrescos ligeros y hojas informativas.
